Description

Purpose

The Research Scientist Award is intended to recognize the contributions and accomplishments of PhD scientists and engineers at all levels of training from their basic and preclinical research on the topic of Interventional Radiology (IR). The award is to be presented at the SIR Annual Scientific Meeting to allied scientists who have an accepted abstract that are outside the clinical realm of IR that is expected to have an impact on the practice of IR.

Award

The Annual Meeting Research Award Committee will select up to three scientists to receive this award each year. Each recipient will receive a $1,000 travel stipend, a certificate of recognition and complimentary registration to SIR Annual Scientific Meeting

Eligibility 

Candidate must be an SIR member by the time of the annual meeting presentation. Candidate must be the principal or co-principal investigator of the research project and must be the listed abstract presenterCandidate can be in a graduate or post-graduate non-clinical training program where the substantial focus of research are IR relevant topics.Project must contain original scientific research and the abstract must be accepted to the SIR Annual Scientific Meeting for oral presentation. (Abstract decisions may not have been communicated yet, but applying for this award by the deadline is highly encouraged).Recipients of the Scientist Research Award is expected to participate in the SIR Foundation Awards Ceremony Plenary session during the SIR Annual Scientific Meeting. 

Presentations/Publications: 

It is suggested that recipients submit their work primarily to JVIR or to the SIR Annual Scientific Meeting. All posters, oral presentations, and publications must contain appropriate acknowledgement of SIR Foundation’s support.
